the lion is perfectly located for visiting hadrian's wall, making it easy to explore. we stayed in a lovely superior king room, which had a comfy bed and a nice view over the fields. the evening meals were impressive, especially the well-cooked beef and fantastic yorkshire puddings. the bar also served inches cider on tap, which was a nice touch!

Had such a lovely time here! We enjoyed relaxing by the cozy fire and loved the peaceful ambiance while taking in a bit of nature. Just a heads up, the separate entrance to the rooms means a little extra navigation, but it didn't spoil our stay at all. 🌟

Had a fantastic stay in a double room with shower. The room had free toiletries, a coffee machine, and a TV. It’s located near Hadrian's Wall, perfect for hikes. Loved the cozy atmosphere in the pub, and the meals were genuinely great. Breakfast was hearty with lots of choices and the service was quick and attentive.

I had a lovely one-night stay with stunning homemade food that topped it all off, especially the crumble! The spa and quiet garden made it a perfect place to unwind after a long day. Just a heads-up, we wished for more pillow options, but it didn’t take away from our great experience. 😊

great little inn with comfy beds and a clean room. food was really good and service was quick, staff were very friendly. loved that the restaurant in the pub had a nice atmosphere. we didnt get to try breakfast since we left early but they made us a takeout breakfast and that was super helpful. location was perfect for exploring hadrian's wall, super close to vindolanda too!
only thing was the limited lunch menu and that it was a bit pricey. also, some noise from the pub a bit late at night.

Had an awesome weekend getaway with friends! We explored the Theatre Royal and also checked out Vindolanda Roman fort. The room was cozy, super clean, and really quiet. The food was delicious with a good variety and served quickly. Staff were friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to come back!
There weren't many dining options nearby, so we relied on the inn's restaurant. It would be great to have more choices close by.

The cozy rooms feature unique stone walls and a fireplace, offering a distinct charm that's hard to find elsewhere. Breakfast includes a well-cooked full English, complete with high-quality sausage and bacon, served alongside a range of cereals and fruit, making the mornings enjoyable.
While the facilities are top-notch, the lack of pillow options might leave some guests wanting more comfort. the menu, though delicious, is on the smaller side, which might not suit those seeking varied dining choices during a longer stay. The entrance to the rooms, separate from the pub, eliminates any chance of interacting with the lively atmosphere unless you head downstairs, which could be a downside for some seeking a more communal experience.
